Lamine Yamal – From Rocafonda to the Number 10

Lamine Yamal documentary profile exploring his Barcelona rise, blending nostalgic visuals with dynamic graphics to capture talent and pressure.

The Brief

What the project needed to accomplish

This project is a short documentary-style profile on Lamine Yamal, focused on the balance between extraordinary talent and growing up under global attention. The story traces his rise from Rocafonda and La Masia to Barcelona’s first team and the Spanish national side, while also addressing the pressure, scrutiny, and expectations that come with fame at such a young age.

The Challenge

Where the complexity showed up

The edit opens with a nostalgic “found footage” framing, using a retro television and warm, textured grading to create a sense of rediscovery. It then transitions into a modern, high-energy visual language built around dynamic motion graphics, 3D space, and geometric elements that reference legacy, structure, and the symbolism of the number 10 shirt.

The Solution

How the experience was shaped

Fast-paced match-cutting, film-strip layouts, and sound-driven pacing are used to convey the speed of his ascent, while quieter moments ground the story in his humanity. Every visual and pacing choice is designed to support the narrative, blending emotion, clarity, and momentum into a cohesive, story-first edit.

The Outcome
